Word Crashes & Support Web Site Stinks

C

C. Winkler

I am having major crashes with Word for the dumbest things,
like when I send a docuemnt as an email attachment from
within Word, it usually crashes while I am typing the email
address in entourage. I am running latest version of Office
on a Mac system 10.2.8.

Then I go to the support pages to email a bug report and
the crash log, and no matter what browser I use, the dumb
help site won't let me choose which Word product I need
help with on the Assisted Support page
(https://webresponse.one.microsoft.com/oas/Secure/AssistedAddproduct.aspx?TZone=480),
it gives me gibberish or nothing in the drop down menu, so
when I enter the product code on the next page, it gives me
an error. I tried on 3 different browsers and there is a
serious problem with the MS support system in general, so
my only free way to report problems is in this forum, which
is the last place I expect to find help.

ARe all MS products prone to many crashes, and does their
support site always have problems and give errors and make
it impossible to enter my problem?

I got enough grief from the buggy programs....
CAN ANYONE BE OF HELP??

The URI you gave (which works fine for me using Safari 1.2 or FireFox
0.8) doesn't have any Mac-specific options (Entourage is listed
nowhere). You do need to accept cookies in order to use Passport.

One way to submit bugs (the best way) is to use the Help/Send Feedback
on <application> menu item in any Office v.X application The direct URI
is

http://www.microsoft.com/mac/feedback/suggestion.asp

Sending a crash log is unlikely to help unless you send very detailed
information about your system, along with a detailed description of what
you were attempting to do at the time.

That description of what you were attempting, however, is essential in
helping MacBU's testers replicate the problem.

FWIW, Office v.X 10.1.5 hardly crashes on me at all, and I tend to
stress the system fairly heavily.

Word is crashing in the background after I send the document from the
file menu as an attachment. I start typing the email address in the
email window that pops up, and Word crashes in the background.

Also, word will crash when I say paste in a large clipboard, and scroll
down quickly. Thanks for the link to where to submit problems.

Hi

It sounds like some basic system troubleshooting may be in order.

Head to the Utilities folder and run Disk Utility First Aid. Repair
permissions on your hard disk. See if that helps.

Also, a quick visit by DiskWarrior may help.
