word crashes unexpectedly

Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard)
Processor: Intel

Word is randomly quitting while I am using it. It does not happen when I click anything in particular, completely random. I have only been using it for 7 months, I feel like this problem is fairly premature for such a new computer. I would love some help with this! Thanks

The age of the computer has nothing to do with it [Right now I'm working
on a G5 that's over 3 years old & don't have any problems with Word 2004 or
2008 crashing at all.] What does matter is how the operating system & the
software you're using are maintained. The first steps to take are:

Make sure OS X is fully updated (Leopard should be at 10.5.4)

Make sure Mac Office is fully updated (12.1.1)

Run Disk Utility - Repair Disk Permissions, then restart your Mac

If you continue to have any problems with Word reply with complete
descriptive details about the situation. The more pertinent information you
can provide the more likely the problem can be resolved readily.
