Word crashes when I save

I just installed (the uninstalled and reinstalled) an authorized, purchased
version of Office XP 2002 on a Toshiba Satellite labtop. I only installed
the Word and Excel portions of the program as I don't need the other stuff.
The problem is this: Whenever I attempt to save a document in Word, it
crashes, you know the "Microsoft Word has encounterd a problem and needs to
close" etc. Excel works fine, though. Any ideas?
