Word crashes when inserting symbol

Every time I go to insert, symbol, Word says that it has
encountered a problem and needs to restart. Does anyone
know what I can do to resolve this problem? Thank you
very much in advance for your help.

This could indicate a problem with your printer driver. Try deleting and
reinstalling the printer (preferably with an updated driver).
