Word crashes when opening a 15 page document

Hello

I have a customer on a site where when they open a 15 page document Word
crashes. On all computers on their site! If I open the document it opens
OK.

They share a normal.dot file on the network which contains a lot of autotext
entries etc. My Word has very few autotext entries.

They are using Word 2000. (I use same version).

They used to use Word 97 - is it an idea to downgrade back to this version
to see what happens?

Any ideas on how to resolve this problem. Their client computers are 2000
and XP.

1) They should _not_ be sharing normal.dot. They can share AutoText through
a separate global template. See
http://addbalance.com/word/movetotemplate.htm for step-by-step instructions
on moving / sharing / copying / backing-up customizations including
AutoText, AutoCorrect, keyboard assignments, toolbars, macros, etc.

Sharing normal.dot also means that their user templates folder is set as a
network folder. It should be a local folder. This may be the cause of the
problem.

2) Retrofitting to Word 97 should not fix the problem. Word 2000 is
generally more stable than Word 97.

Which version of Word are you using?
