Hello, when I receive a file form other PC users, sometimes word crashes after 10-30 seconda I open the file. I tried to de-activate the spell checker, but sometimes this solution won't help. The problem does not appear when I create baran new file with my Mac. On the other hand, the problem appears only with the same files. If I file start to crash word, then it will do it no matter what I change, The sole solution appears to copy the entire content in a blank new file.
Thanks for your rhelp!

Today I tried to put in a word file the page numbering in the footer, and... the file caused word crashing! Same problem I had yesterday when opening a file that was on a headed paper of some company.
Nobody can tell us what to do?

Hi Palluk:

Yours is simple: do a Maggie:

You have a corrupt document.

The Maggie:

1. Create a new blank document
2. Carefully select all of the text in the bad document EXCEPT the last
paragraph mark
3. Copy it.
4. Paste in the new document.
5. Save under a new file name and close all, then re-open.

This technique for de-corrupting is known as "Doing a 'Maggie'", after
Margaret Secara from the TECHWR-L mailing list, who first publicised the
technique.

The other guy, I have no idea, he didn't even say what he's using so I can;t
begin to guess. I can promise him that he does NOT have the same problem.

Cheers
