Word Crashes with Mail Merge

Every time I create a mail merge, when I attempt to open the Data
document after all of the data has been added to it, it opens for 1
second then Word crashes. I'm at a loss. I tried to create labels and
it crashes, I tried a catalog it crashes. It's the only time it
crashes, I can open any other type of document without a problem. Help!

Unfortunately I do not have an answer for you, but a number of questions,
that hopefully will help us figure out why this is crashing.
Can you open your Data doc? Not as a data source via the Data Merge
Manager, but via File, Open. If you create a new, simple Data doc, does
that crash? Do all your Data docs crash? Is your Data doc a Word document?
Excel worksheet? RTF file? Text file?

If your Data doc will open without crashing via File, Open, then open the
file, choose File, Save As and save it out in an RTF format. RTF will
preserve all your formatting - including if your data is laid out in a table
- and you can use the RTF file as your Data doc.

the Data was corrupt I think I was able to recreate by making a new
data source and Main document. thanks for the feedback guys. Once I
went and opened an old Data source I realized Word wasn't corrupted
only the document I was trying to use. FYI: all documents were Word
documents, not all data docs crashed the app. don't know why it
corrupted, probably because I was attempting to cut and paste from
another doc. not sure. oh well.
