Word Crashes with Multiple Windows Open

MS Word crashes when I flip through multiple windows of
Word, and for some reason, the ~.tmp files that are
created aren't recycled or deleted when word is closed. I
have tried reinstalling the software but Word continues
to crash.

I'm running Windows XP Home and both my office products
and operating system are up to date. I'm also running
Norton System Works and Firewall, and the word plug-in is
not selected.

Please let me know if there is anything that I can do.

Thanks for the help.

Hello Mike
I wanted to know which version of Word you are using, is it Word 2000, Word 2002 or Word 2003
Well! Here is something you can try
To resolve this issue Close all window
click on Star
Click on Ru
Type %appdata% and press ente
Double click on Microsof
Double click on Templete
Here you will find a file Normal.dot or Norma
Right click on the file and select Rename and type oldNormal.ol
Press ente
Close all windows

I am running Word 2003, and everything is up to date.
I'll try that and let you know how it goes. Please let me
know if you have any other ideas. Thanks!

Thanks for the advice. Unfotrunately, I'm still having the problem. I also notice that when I continually save documents, my folders show a number of .tmp files, and when I close the document, usually some of the.tmp files remain. I'm using Office 2003. Thanks for your help!
