Word crashes

I'm running Office XP on my Windows XP Professional
machine. Recently, Word and Outlook have been crashing
continuously. I open Word, start typing or open a
document and it just crashes. I've tried repairing it and
reinstalling it but nothing works. I have all the
updates and patches. The only thing that I have changed
to my computer recently is updating McAfee virus
definitions.

Any help??? Ideas???

Have you tried disabling McAfee to see if the crashes stop?

When you say "crash", do you get an error? Does your computer freeze? Or
does Office just shut down?

Thanks Susan. I have tried disabling McAfee but I have
the same result. I experience crashes in the sense that
I get an error report that Outlook or Word needs to close
and sorry for the inconvenience. I send an error report
every time. I've also checked for office updates and I
have all of the patches.
