Word Crashing

When I attempt to run MS Word X (on OS X 10.3 w/ 5-03-2004 security
update on a G4 AGP), it crashes immediately after loading. Powerpoint
and Excel are fine. I repaired the disk permissions and re-started.
I re-installed the latest Office X update (1.2.5 I think). I still
have the problem with Word. The only new thing that I have done is
that I installed Adobe Illustrator CS. I don't think that Word has
worked since. I suppose I could try un-installing Illustrator, but
has anyone heard of a conflict between these or have any ideas?

P.S., I checked the Adobe site and the only thing I could find there
was a note that some Adobe applications will crash when launching on
OS X 10.3. Evidently this happens when the time zone is set to
Cardiff. Resetting the time zone fixes the problem. Unless this was
a joke, it is totally incomprehensible to me. In any event, it does
not address my Word problem.

Hi George,

I can't remember if this problem relates to Adobe's PDFMaker or not but try
this any way: Go to Tools menu> Templates & Add-Ins. Do you see any Adobe
items in the Global Templates & Add-Ins window (or any Endnote add-ins for
that matter)? If so, go to HD/Applications/Microsoft Office
X/Office/Startup/Word and remove them.

If this doesn't help, please post back.

I solved the problem by removing and then re-installing MS Office X.
Of course, I had to re-install all of the updates and re-install part
of End Note, but after about an hour of re-installations, it now works
OK. I still don't know what caused the problem, but I do suspect that
the Illustrator install may have done something that Word didn't like.

Oh well, FYI.
