word crashing

I am on a Mac, using Office 98, and as soon as I open a
Word document, Word crashes and I get an error Type 2
message. I am completely unable to use Word at all.
Any suggestions or help would be greatly appreciated- thanks.

Open the Extensions folder located in the System Folder.

Locate and move the four following extensions to the Trash:
- Microsoft Component Library
- Microsoft OLE Automation
- Microsoft OLE Library
- Microsoft Structured Storage

Empty the trash and launch Word 98. This automatically invokes the FRI
feature because of the missing extensions. The First Run Install will
insert fresh copies of the extensions for you. Word 98 should now perform
properly.

I assume you are using Mac OS 9 and below

If Naren's suggestion doesn't work, try increasing Word 98's Preferred
memory. You'll find instructions for that, plus other troubleshooting
