Hello: I'm currently running Word 2002, but have had
this problem also in Word 97 on a different computer.
Both computers were running their respective versions of
Office.
Occasionally when working on a document that is multiple
pages, in Page view (Word 97) or Print Layout view (Word
2002)the automatic page numbering feature goes nuts,
adding pages at the rate of thousands per minute. It
keeps going until you dump the document (Word 97) or push
Escape (Word 2002). The tendancy to do this stays with
that document forever after, no matter how many times you
close and re-open it.
Word 2002 sometimes returns a dialog box after you push
Escape, saying that Word needs to change to Normal view
to continue.
What causes this problem? How can I rescue my document?
How can I fix it? Thanks - Bill
