Hi,
I am using Word 2003, sometimes when I save the document, I can see in the
temp folder, word creates a ".cvr" file.
Whenever this .cvr file is created word will crash out.
Can someone throw some light on whats .cvr file and why word is creating it?

Thanks in Advance

According to http://filext.com/file-extension/CVR that extension is used by
several fax programs, including the popular WinFax.

If you have one of these programs, or had one and removed it, then contact
its vendor to find out how to fix the problem.

Thanks for the info.
I do not have Winfax installed, but I can see Winfax.dll in Windows/System32
folder. I tried deleting the Winfax.dll file, but everytime I lauch word this
fle(Winfax.dll) seems to get created in Windows/System32 folder.
I dont know why its doing that???

Confusing as it may seem, the winfax.dll file in Windows\system32 is part of
Windows and not part of the WinFax Pro product. As part of Windows, it's
included in Windows File Protection, which restores damaged or deleted files
that are considered important to the operation of Windows.

Do you have _any_ fax software installed that might create a fax cover page?

No I dont have any fax software installed.

I have found few more files
WINFXDOCOBJ.EXE-1D1DCAFF.pf C:\Windows\prefetch
WinFXDocObj C:\Windows\system32
WinFXDocObj.exe.mui C:\Windows\system32\en-US

Why is word trying to make a coversheet?

Thanks once again for your help

None of those files have anything to do with it -- they're associated with .Net
Framework 3.0 (formerly called WinFX). I think you can now stop searching your
computer for "files that sound something like WinFax".

I have no idea why Word is trying to make a coversheet, if that is in fact
what's happening. It's possible that the .cvr file you see doesn't really have
anything to do with Word or the crashes.

See http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/AppErrors/ProblemsStartingWord.htm for general
troubleshooting problems (not just in starting Word), and
http://www.gmayor.com/what_to_do_when_word_crashes.htm for how to clean up the
temp folder, whose load of files could itself cause problems.

I'm having the same problem but in Outlook. I try and print an e-mail
and it crashes. The info it want's to send to Microsoft includes a
file 277609.cvr.

Thanks for your assistance.
