Word Date Problem

Retrieving a document once I saved on a CD, I noticed the letter has
changed its original date (in the actual text).
Checking the properties, I also saw that under Created was today's
date, while Modified had the original one. Backwards??
I could easily rectify the problem, but this letter is a legal
document and dates are most important and not to be messed around
with.
Is anybody familiar with this problem and what might be causing it?
Solutions?
Many thanks in advance.

You mean it's in the burning process that the problem has been
created?? I haven't noticed it, ever before.
And yes, the date in the letter itself has changed.

Yes, there has been a problem with some burning applications. The simplest
solution is to zip the files before archiving. The files in the zip will not
be altered.

If a createdate field is being altered, then this is attributable to the
writing problem.

Thanks for the suggestion.
Will keep in mind when next time I burn a CD.
Meanwhile, I'd like to hear what the software maker says.
