Word Default doc.

Everytime I start a new document in Word 2004/Tiger, there's text in
the header. Is there a file I can trash or replace in order to get a
clean new doc?

Thanks Bob,

I'm getting a disk error whenever I try to open/convert an Appleworks6
file with Word as well. Ya think I should reinstall the whole thing.

Ret,

Re-installing Word on the Mac hardly ever does any good, because the prefs
files that usually contain the problems are not replaced.

I'm not sure what you mean by "I try to open/convert an Appleworks6 file
with Word as well". Exactly what does the error message read; exactly what
have you done when it comes? What OS version? What Mac?

I installed Office 2004 on a Macbook/ Tiger. The AW6 files were
transfered via flash drive which I first reformated MacExtended. Well
actually, I tried to open them once before I reformated the drive and
that's when I think Word got twisted. Funny thing about the drive that
may or may not be relevant is that after reformating the flash drive
with the MacBook, the green iMac/OS 9.2 still needed it reformated
again, whatever.
I don't have the "problem" in front of me now, but I think it reads
either a disk error, or a file error -yeah, a file read error. It
happens when I do a Word "file/open" with the Applesworks 5/6 setting
in the open dialog box on the MacBook.

Another thing is that the Keynote demo wants to open the AW6 files if
I just dbl click them, even though I have done the "Get Info, Open all
these files with Word." (Will trash the demos)

I converted a couple AW6 files to Word from Appleworks (save as) and
they tranfered via the flash and opened/worked ok with Word.

The deal is that the person has about 200 AW6 on the iMac files that
she wants converted.

I have an OS9 version of MacLink 12 and wondering if it can batch
convert them to Word -might be the way to go.? In any case, I'll have
another go at it on Thursday.

Thanks for any hints.
