Word Dictionary

Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard)

I can't seem to access the dictionary that I think is part of Word. I don't need to create a custom dictionary.

The main dictionary used by Word (Office) is not user-modifiable. Any terms
you want to add must be added by way of Custom Dictionaries.

my main dictionary does not seem to be working. My spell checker only notices some misspelled words, like "Illustrator" but not words like "elemenrty" or "elemepppppppppntry"
