Word doc attachment received as QuickTime movie

Processor: Intel
Email Client: pop

Word Doc attachmnets from my husband's Mac always show up to me as QuickTime movies. What's with that?
He: Mac 10.4, Yahoo.com web based client and no problem sending Word Doc attachments elsewhere.

Do a Get Info on one of the attachments. Select to open with Word. Also
select "Change All"

Forget now which preference sets this...seems it had launch services in the
name.
