Word Doc is not opening from Windows Explorer

Using: Windows 2000 and Word 2002

When I double-click any of my word documents, the MS Word application opens
but it does not open the document. I can open any other Office Document in
this same way. How can I fix it?

I can use menu File/Open.
I can drag and drop the document.
I cannot double-click de doc at Windows Explorer.
