Word doc loses the formatting when inserted into another doc

Windows XP, Word 97
=====================
Hi,

I have a one-page Word document (doc_A) in Landscape
format, with text arranged in 4 columns.

When I insert this Word doc into another Word doc (doc_B)
(using Insert->File, or Copy-and-Paste), doc_A loses its
formatting, and all the text is displayed in a single
column. I've tried creating a separate section in doc_B
(by using section breaks), and formatting that particular
section to Landscape (doc_B is in Portrait) before
inserting doc_A, but the inserted doc_A is still displayed
in a single column.

Not sure what's going on here, and would appreciate any
help on successfully retaining the formatting of the
inserted document.

Thanks!

-Amit

As you are on your way to figuring out on your own, columns are a part of
section formatting. See <URL:
http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/Formatting/WorkWithSections.htm>.

See the MVP FAQ: <URL: http://www.mvps.org/word/> which is awesome!

Hi Charles,

Thanks for the URL. I somehow managed to fix the problem
by playing around. But, I'll keep that URL for future
references.

Thanks again!
