Word Doc moves nearly the whole text not selected

Hi,

I was wondering if anybody has any ideas on the following
issue.

I have been given a word 2000 file that misbehaves
whenever you try and move the text (i.e. Tab, Justify
e.t.c.) If you try to center a selected amount of text,
the document will center eveything apart from the 1st line
and the last 4 lines of the 5 page document. The whole of
the document style is Normal and I've tried modifying the
Normal style and unchecking the automatic update box,
which is suggested on the MVPS.org website.

Any ideas?

Hi Suzanne,

Thanks for replying. I already checked that document
before I posted the original and it didn't help
unfortunately. It is strange as the 1st line and the last
4 are unaffected. Whatever part of the document I am
using, if I try and center/justify/tab e.t.c. the cursor
automatically moves up to the start point of the 2nd line
and then does the command i've selected.
