Word doc will not open

I am running Word 2003 and have received a word document by email that has a
..dox extension. Can anyone tell me how to open it? What is a .dox extention?

The .docx format is the default file format for documents created in
Microsoft Word 2007. (See http://filext.com/file-extension/docx for more
information.)

These document can be opened in Word 2003 through the use of the Microsoft
Office Compatibility Pack for Word, Excel, and PowerPoint 2007 File Formats,
which can be downloaded from
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...70-3ae9-4aee-8f43-c6bb74cd1466&displaylang=en.

Alternative, you can ask the document originator to save the document in
Word 97-2003 format before sending it.
