Word docs accessing Picture Manager to open; how to fix?

Trying to open MS Word docs in Outlook or from My Documents, MS Picture
Manager comes up causing error and the document is damaged? How to correct
back to Word documents accessing MS Word to open?

I deleted MS Office and reinstalled -- did not work. Also ran virus and
spyware.
