Word Docs Auto Request SAVE

B

Bill

Hi,

Some WORD docs I view request "Do you want to save the changes to
"xxxx.doc"? when I never even make any changes or modifications to the
doc. All I do is view it and it requests a save when I go to close it
out. Happens on some but not all docs.

Is there anything I can disable to always NOT save the doc unless I menu
a save command? I tried all combination of the Options menu under SAVE
tab but nothing will stop the save request.

Using Win XP SP2 with OfficeXP Suite (Microsoft Word 2002, SP3)

Thanks,
Bill

Bill, I think I've seen responses in Word forums that state that Word
documents can increase in size because of some internal Word functioning. I
want to say "template creep" or "template enlargement." Not sure. I think
that's why Word asks the question, because there has in fact been a change
to the doc once it was opened by you.

It would be a dangerous option to select that you do not save a document
unless you affirmatively choose to save it.

Better to create a macro that exits a doc without saving which you would
affirmatively have to choose to invoke. Assign it to a keyboard combo and
it's no big deal.
