Word docs take a very long time to load and exit

If you open Word in Safe Mode, do the documents open correctly? From Start,
Run type in

winword /a

and press enter. Word starts in its default install mode. Do all the
documents open correctly now?

I've had the same problem. I did what Terry Farrell suggested, and my
program and docs open quickly again. Now what do I do to get Word to open as
quickly when NOT in Safe Mode? Thanks for your help.... Kim

Wow!! All I did was get to your second step and renamed normal.dot to
normal.old, and it worked like a charm. My big problem was finding where
that file was, but I eventually did. WORD works like a charm again. Many
thanks for your help...........take care...........Kim
