Word Document closes, all content disappears, no idea why, HELP

For the last couple weeks I have been having a problem with my word.
will be typing and I will mistype something (I don't know what, I typ
somewhat fast and have not been able to figure out what actuall
triggers it) and the entire document closes. When I reopen the document
all the content is gone. This has happened with documents that have fil
names and also with one that had content previously saved in it.
checked autorecovery, and there is no copy of the document saved i
there. I have no idea what I am pressing to make this happen but I hav
lost class notes mid-class twice now and a long document of presentatio
notes that really screwed me so I really need to figure it out! I hav
tried undo in the document, but since I reopened it, there is no actio
to undo. I have also tried pressing random key combinations to try an
replicate the response but to no avail. I have tried ctrl+F4, whic
prompts my to save the document before closing, as well as ctrl=W, whic
does the same thing. I have also initiated automatic back ups of m
documents, but the backup ends up blank as well. I assume that there i
some command I am mistakenly pressing and that if I remove the command
I won't have to worry about pressing it accidentally. However I have n
idea what command would both CLOSE windows and DELETE all the data i
it. Does anyone know what this command might be and how I might fix it
I really can't have this happen when I'm writing thesis notes o
chapters so I need to get it fixed ASAP. Thank you!

When you're fast-typing, is it possible you're hitting Ctrl-A (which
selects everything) and then typing some other letter (which
overwrites it)?

That was my first thought as well, but the obstacle of there being no way to
close the document without a prompt to save remains. Since the default
answer for the save prompt is Yes, pressing Enter would result in saving a
previously saved document (a disastrous choice in this case), but it would
open the Save As dialog for a new one.

I thought about the ctrl=A too because my command for my arrow i
ctrl+alt+a but I don't think I type THAT fast that I could press ctrl+a
delete, and then some sort of close command. Unfortunately, I am usuall
looking up in class or at a book when I'm trying and this happens, so
really have no idea what I was typing when I've had it happen. . .
