word document file list

Pardon my ineptitude at getting this problem expressed.
This problem happens only in the "open file" list not in
the document file list in "my computer"

I think the display properties in the Open File list are
inherited from My Computer. Open My Computer, click on
View > Arrange Icons by and see what is selected. If it
is not Name, choose Name and see if that fixes it.

In the file open dialog - select details view. Click the filename column
header to set that column order, then return to the preferred view.
