word document frozen without saving it

Version: 2008 Operating System: Mac OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard) I am working in word. havent saved the documant and have the spinning ball so now it is frozen
how do i save it

If Word is not responding there is nothing you can do to save any unsaved
changes. Keep in mind that the spinning ball doesn't always mean that
something is wrong ‹ it can just be an indication that the system is 'busy'
or that the task being executed may take a while. If the ball continues for
more than a minute or so you may have to Force Quit the program.

The important thing is to resolve whatever caused it in order to avoid
having it happen again. Make certain that both Office & OS X are fully
updated, run Disk Utility - Repair Disk Permissions & restart your Mac.

If that doesn't correct the situation post back with specific details as to
whether this happens with all documents or just specific ones. Exactly what
are you doing when it occurs? Any additional details would be helpful in
pinpointing the source of the problem. Do Not, however, assume that
reinstalling Office might be a solution... That could even make it worse.
