Word document that converted to a .tmp file

L

Lucille

While trying to save a word document to my memory stick, something went wrong
and it saved the document as a .tmp document. The properties of the document
shows that all the work is still there, but I do not know how I can open it
or whether I have lost the work altogether.

Can someone please help??

Did you try opening the file in Word? Use the Open dialog box, change the
Files of Type to All Documents and try opening the file. If the temp file
contents can be recovered this is the way to find out.

Additionally, as I just told "Landman" in a previous post, it's not a good
idea to work directly off of removable media. It's safer to copy the file to
your hard drive (I use the Desktop) and then copy it back once you are
finished editing the file. I've lost a couple of important documents by
working directly off a flash drive and will never do it again. As a matter
of fact, this is so important it's worth repeating myself. ;-)
