Word document with tables.

I'm getting an error message when I open a document that contains several
tables. It reads something like: "One of the tables in this doument is
corrupt. Please select the table and change table to text" (or vise versa,
I don't remember)

I've tried everything. Even cutting and pasting document to a new word
document and eliminating tables. I still get message when I open document.
I never saw anything like this before. Anyone have any suggestions?
