WORD document wont open: Document name or path not valid

I have Word 2002 (10.2627.2625) on my ME PC and cant open some documents
(WORD but also aplies to ADOBE) emailed to me.
Lates example is from a user with a XP PC running WORD 2002 (10.4524.4219).
I have searched the KB and tried creating the RepairSmartTags key in the
Registry and have also disabled the Office Plug-In in Norton AV.
However I am still unable to open the emailed files even though they have
been resent. Files have been sent and received using Outlook.
I also have ZoneAlarm Pro installed.
Any more ideas as to what is going wriong here will be gratefully received!

Are you able to save the attachment to your local disk and open it in
Word?
