How do I set my computer to open all documents using
Microsoft Word rather than Microsoft Works Word Processor?

I have 2 computers and when I transfer documents on a
floppy between them, one opens them using Microsoft Word
and the other using Microsoft Works. I have installed
Microsft Word on both computers. When the documents are
transferred using a floppy the documents still are opened
with microsoft Works and appear disorganized.

Thanks for any help

.
Go to Windows Explorer and navigate to a document (.doc),
right click on it and choose properties.
Near the top you should see 'Opens with' and a change
button - select MS Word. You might need to click
something like apply to all documents.
Hope it helps

On the errant machine, from the Windows start menu > run enter WinWord /r
This will re-register Word and associate its files.

I trust you are not saving or opening Word files direct to/from floppy? This
is the major source of document corruption. Copy to the hard drive before
opening. Save to the hard drive and copy to floppy.
