Word documents opening a different program...

...When Word (2003) is closed and I try to open a word document, as of late,
I have instead been getting no response. Yesterday, I rebooted and things
seemed to work. Today, it opened by e-mail program.

Any thoughts?

I typed incorrectly. I should have said, "Today it opened MY e-mail
program." which is Total Access (an Earthlink e-mail program).

I subsequently rebooted, and it opened normally.

My question: why is it behaving erratically and is there an identifiable
fix?

Which e-mail program is this, Outlook, Outlook Express, Eudora?

Probably the e-mail program has some link with Microsoft Word in the first
place, its also possible that Word 2003 uses your default e-mail program and
launched mistakenly. Does this occur often?

Get the latest patches for Word 2003, it might help contain some these
erratic occurences.
