word documents

Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard)
Processor: Intel

When I attempt to open an attached Word document received in email, I get a message saying I cannot open it because the document is NOT a Word document. This is happening more and more often from different people i deal with on a regular basis. What can I do?

How do you access your email? Do you use Entourage? Could it be that the
message has not been entirely downloaded? I am afraid we will need a whole
lot more information from you before we can help you.
