Right-click on a Word document, choose "Open with," select "Browse,"
be sure the box for "Always use this program to open this kind of
file" (or something like that) is checked, and choose Word.
But note that the reason WinRar is opening the file is that .docx is
actually a .zip format, and WinRar evidently recognizes this. If you change
the extension to .zip, you can extract the file's components, including the
raw XML.

Generally speaking, you shouldn't be opening something in Word before
downloading it. In case you do some editing, you won't be able to save
the changes.
