Word does not open a file

Hello

Have a problem with a particular word file. Word will NOT open a file and
gives error message that document path or name is not valid. It is only 2nd
file to behave that way.

Am running Windows XP Home, Office XP pro and Norman virus checker. Have
installed Office service pack 3, reinstalled office, and did the winword /r
idea and still no joy. The file can be opened with Open Office but it changes
layout and page numbering.

Any help would be appreciated as it is an important file.

Is 'norman virus checker' actually Norton Anti Virus or something that I've
never heard of? If it is really NAV, open NAV and deselect the Office
Plug-in option.

Thanks for the tip, but Norman is another anti-virus program and does not
have the office plugin. Tried your tip on another of my computers that did
use Norton and did deselect the plugin and still have the problem with the
one file. any other ideas? thank you,
