Word doesn`t add changes to the Normal.dot file

Hi all,

I have a user with office 2003 Sp2 that has this problem. Whatever changes
is done to Word, like changing page setup, the toolbars, the fonts you
name it, the change is not kept after closing Word and starting it again.
It`s like office can`t modify the
Normal.dot file. The user is a local administrator of her PC.

The Normal.dot file is located on the users home drive on the network and if
I make the file local on the PC HDD the problem is the same. The user has
Modify rights on the Normal.dot file. If she opens the Normal.dot file
directly and
makes changes to it and saves the changes then it works.

What could be the problem ? If she tries on another computer than it works
for her !

Possibly some add-in is interfering with saving normal.dot. Early
versions of the Adobe Acroat 7.0 add-in did that -- see the last
section of http://gmayor.com/lose_that_adobe_acrobat_toolbar.htm.

Until you diagnose and cure the problem, if you hold the Shift key
while opening the File menu, the Save item is replaced by Save All,
and that should force a save of normal.dot.
