Hi PeterM,

files\PDFmaker.dot I tried repair, still nothing. I'm using Win XP Home and

This template is in your Word STARTUP folder as an Addin, I'm guessing.

Search PDFMaker.dot in Windows. When you find it, MOVE it to a different
folder. Now Word should start with no problems.

it sounds like word is trying to load that template on startup but it has
become corrupted. Since it's pdfmaker.dot, it sounds like it came from PDF
writer (adobe acrobat)?

You could try renaming it (like say, pdfmaker.old) for now and then
reinstalling your pdf writer, assuming that's where it came from.

If you don't have the pdf writer software or aren't sure how it got on your
computer (some programs include it as an add on) you could just move that
file out of that folder (I'm afraid to tell you to DELETE IT even though it
sounds like it's bad anyhow.)

If the folder it's in is a Word Startup folder word will try to load it
every time you open word and you'll keep getting the error. Removing it may
get rid of the problem. (just keep a copy of it somewhere in case that's
not the problem.)

Good Luck,
Laura
