Word Envelopes and Labels can't see Outlook address book.

I used to be able to select entries from my Outlook address book to print
envelopes in Word.

I don't know what changed, but now, every time I try to find an address in
the Word envelopes and labels tool, Word tells me to set Outlook as the
default mail client...and I've done that, and checked that it's the case
several times.

Please provide me with some clue as to what is going on here.
