Word ERROR - HELP ASAP

We are trying to open a document from a flash drive and the document will not
open. I tried to drag to my desktop and the file will still not open and I
received this error.

Word experienced an error trying to open the file.
There is more information at the bottom if that is needed.

It sounds like the document is corrupted. Note that if the file was *ever*
saved directly to a flash drive from Word, and if the flash drive was
removed before Word had fully closed the file, that could be how it was
corrupted to begin with.

What version of Word are you using? In later versions, one of the options in
the Open dialog is Open and Repair (available from the Open dropdown box).
You might give that a try, if it's available. Alternatively, you might end
up resorting to Recover text from any file (under Files of type dropdown).

As Herb has suggested, the problem is working directly with a flash drive.
NEVER edit, open or save from the flash drive. Always save or open to/from
the local HDD and then copy to and from the flash.
