Word error when using Word as email editor

Outlook/Word 2003

We have a user who wants to use Word as his email editor in Outlook.
When closing Word, he gets an error that says "Microsoft Visual Basic:
Compile error in hidden module: modAuto." This is followed by the
"Sorry, Word has encountered an error and has to close."

Has anyone else encounted this? I would certainly love any input or
insight regarding how to resolve the issue. The user doesn't want to
give up the grammar checking available for emails (new/reply/fordward)
- otherwise, he would use Word (and turn off Word as his email editor)
to send emails, but it doesn't help with replies.
