word/excel attachment that includes hyperlinks; outlook chgs hyper

Our organization is having an issue with the following:
-a user creates a word / excel document that includes a UNC hyperlink (eg.
\\server\share\filename); hyperlink was inserted into document by "Insert -
Hyperlink" menu commands, then browsing to the document
-user attaches saved document to an e-mail and sends
-recipient of e-mail opens attachment and the hyperlink within the document
has CHANGED from \\server\share\filename TO C:\documents and
settings\user\....
-if you open the original document in its associated application, the
original hyperlink is there
