Can anyone help me? It hurts to use word, it takes forever to startup,
open a doc or even cut and paste between word/excel/quark. I don't
know what to do. I've turned off the asistant, thrown out preferences.
Someone please save me, I use word every day.

I'm working on a G4 with dual 1Ghz, OS 9.2.2 & Word 2001.

Just for curosity — do you happen to have Adobe Acrobat?

If so it will install an item called PDF Maker in Word. if so It will cause Word
to take up to 5 minutes to load even on a G4-500 with 1.5 Gb of system RAM.

What will happen is That everything will appear to freeze and the suddenly this
extra little floating button will appear.

One of the Monitor can give you the extact name and location but there will be
a copy installed for Word, Excell, and Power Point. Its associated with some
type of Macro files. If you can yank these items out and Trash them and empty.
Then word with a lot of items on the menu might take about 15 seconds, to load
as opposed to 5 minutes.

Phillip,

Thanks for your response. I do have Acrobat installed and I have
searched for PDF maker on my system and cannot find it. I read another
post that had mentioned that, but I think it may be with Office X. I
am using Office 2001. Anyway, I cannot locate it.

Any other thoughts?
