Word, Excel, PowerPoint, application unexpectedly quit

I'm running OSX 10.2.8 on a PowerBook G4 with 512 MB of RAM. I
installed Office X about a week ago and it ran fine. A day ago I
launched Word, got the application statup window with logo, and then
Word shut down with the cusomary, "The application Word has
unexpectedly quit" error message. I get this for Excel and PowerPoint
as well, but not Entourage.

I've deleted the Microsoft Office folder and reinstalled, and I've
downloaded and installed the 10.1.2, 10.1.4, 10.1.5 upgrades, all to
no avail. Are there other tactics or reinstall methods I should try to
get things running smoothly again?

Thanks.

Same problem, different computer. I've been using Office X since
January with no problems on a G4 867DP with OS 10.2.1 and 768MB ram.
Several weeks ago I installed QuarkXpress V6. The next time I tried to
open any of the Office X programs (except Entourage) I got the same
message. I deleted Office and all the pref files I could find and
reinstalled. No Help. I deleted Quark and reinstalled Office. Same
problem.

Does it work if you double-click a document rather than opening the program
directly? If so, this could be caused by a bug between an older version of
the DivX codec and the Office Project Gallery. The latest version corrects
the problem:

Try repairing permissions.
For OS 10.2/10.3:
Go to Macintosh HD/Applications/Utilities. Open up Disk Utility. Select
your hard disk, then click the First Aid tab. Click the button to "Repair
Disk Permissions".

For OS 10.1.5:
Download the Repair Privileges utility, free from Apple, and run it:

Run Disk First Aid. Instructions on how to run it in OS X are located on
the Apple Knowledge Base.
