I am literate when it comes to computers, but here is a
problem I have never seen before. I can't open ANY
microsoft office files in a microsoft office program.
This applies to Word, Excel, and Powerpoint. Example, my
training log is in Excel, when I attempt to open it, I get
a "unable to open file error". I can open the file in
Lotus 1-2-3, so it ain't a corrupted file problem. I can
open word docs in word pad but not Word. If I create a
word file and close it, when I attempt to re-open it, I
get a "file not found" error. If I open word itself and
then attempt to close it, I get a "The file Normal already
exists. Do you want to replace the existing file?"
WTF!! This was all working just fine earlier today. All
my files are in the same places they have always been. My
virus definitions are only 2 days old and a scan comes up
clean. Deleted all office programs and re-installed to
the same errors. Running Windows 2000 with Windows office
XP, which are compatible. Been running this for 2 months
without any problems until today. No crashes, reboots,
etc. Wife has paper due for school tomorrow evening, time
is ticking.....
