Word exit w/o error message at open file

I've a bizarre problem :

When a user try to open a document and select a special
folder, word close itself and don't give any error
message. If the user try to access other folder there's
no problem. User can also open the file via the explorer.

I have a vague idea that this has something to do with the folder containing
a shortcut to an invalid FTP site. See "OFF2000: Invalid Page Fault in
Kernel32.dll Clicking "Look in" in Open Dialog Box" at
