Word experienced an error trying to open the file

Hi,

I got the following error message when I try to open a word file:
"Word experienced an error trying to open the file.try these suggestions
Check the file permissions for the file or the drive
Make sure there is sufficient free memory or disk space
Open the file with the text recovery converter"

but this happen only on some word docs and only when opening the file for
the first time. The second time, it opens with no problem.
any idea what's the problem?
note: my Word is 2003 with SP1
