Word fails to convert into XML format using 'Save As' option

Hello All,

Env: Windows XP, Word 2003 Sp1

I have a very simple document which has just one letter in the document.
When I try to 'Save As' Xml, the Word fails and crashes. It also fails using
XML Tool box's View XML option.

The document has couple of invisible characters in the beginning of the
document. I can confirm this by opening the document in Notepad. I am sure it
is these invisible characters that is making it to fail. I want to know what
these characters are.

If anyone is intrested in looking at this problem, I can send the document
thru mail.

If anyone has experienced this before, please let me know how to fix this?
