Word failure to open.

Hi, I was wondering why my Word wont open. Earlier today, I had deleted the
whole program by accident but lucky was able to retrieve it back with system
restore.

However, the programs on Microsoft wont be opened. As I click on it It says
" Windows preparing to install." But it returns with " This pack Package
could not be opened . Verify that the patch package exists and that you can
access it, or contact the application vendor to verify that this is a valid
Windows Installer patch package."

So how do I overcome this problem? I think it wont work on all of the
programs of Microsoft Office Tools or Professional. So obviously I need to
verify that the patch is there but I dont know where it is. Thanks for anyone
who will reply.

You will be much more likely to get help if you specify which version of
Word you have.

okay, I got Mircrosoft Office XP Professional. Not sure which version it
is...unless the one I just typed in is a version.

The version of Word in Office XP is Word 2002. See You receive the "'This
patch package could not be opened' errror message in Office 2003, in Office

Sorry to bug you again, but I dont see how I can achieve this without the
proper CDs of Microsoft. My program of Microsoft came with the computer so
How do I re-install?

You should have been furnished with the Office CD; look at all the media
that came with your computer, and you will probably find it. If you did not
receive the proper media, contact the computer vendor.
