I am trying to resolve an issue regarding the end-opening of a Word doc that I create. I create the file through Office 2008 on my Intel Macbook and then email it to both PC and Mac users.

Upon opening, they get the message of:
CONVERT FILE: (the standard convert box)
giving them the list of conversion options, starting with "Text Only" and extending down. The file will not successfully open on either platform.

I have checked my Preference>Compatibility settings are set to Microsoft 2007-2008 - which is the default.

To make things more challenging, I have one Mac that will email the docs fine, without error - and one that will not. The Mac that is emailing fine is emailing through Lotus and Entourage. The Mac is having the challenge is emailing through AOL Beta for Mac. I'm thinking that might be the issue, but I'm stumped on what to change.

This sounds like an issue with the encoding or decoding of attachments which
needs to be handled through your email software. It has nothing to do with
your Word documents themselves. Specifically, the AOL webmail
software/system seems to be the culprit.

I'm not familiar with it so I don't know what to suggest other than
contacting AOL support to see what they recommend *and* regardless of what
they suggest, always zip your files before attaching.
