Word File thumbnail Views

My computer will not show thumbnail views of Word files; i.e. in thumbs view
i see an icon with a W on it, but not an actual thumb of the file; most other
Office files work fine. I have enabled and disabled and re-enabled thumbnail
caching as well as every other obvious thing to fix it. Any ideas?

In your document, select
File>Properties

To get a preview thumbnail, you must check the box at the bottom left
corner.
